Certain movies have their future. Many times we have seen the movie is initially approached to some actor, but on refusal, it is given to another actor. Here we have a list of some Malayalam superstars and the films that they rejected.
Dileep: Jayasurya's superhit film Chathikkatha Chanthu's first choice was Dileep. National Award-winning performance of Suraj Venjaramoodu in the movie Perariyathavar was previously offered to Janapriyanayakan Dileep. Movies which were rejected by Dileep were surprise hits and well appreciated by the Malayalam audience and movie critics.
Dulquer Salmaan: The handsome young actor was approached by Shyamaprasad for his movie Ritu, however, Dulquer refused the offer as he believed he had to learn more about the cinema before venturing into it. DQ also did a short-term film course. Dulquer even refused the sequel of his father Mammootty's film Samrajyam; Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander. Dulquer reportedly said to media that he doesn't believe and enjoy working in remakes and sequels
Kunchacko Boban: Naren's role in 2006 blockbuster movie Classmates was first offered to Kunchacko Boban by director Lal Jose. But the actor, who took the decision of taking a break from films and focus on his business, sulkily refused the role. Later, a few movies refused by Kunchacko were also then offered to Naren, which made him a popular name in Mollywood. Dileep's role in Kammath & Kammath and Narein's role in Ayalum Njanum Thammil were also offered to him, but he did not accept it.
Mammootty: Reportedly, Megastar Mammootty has the record of rejecting many movies. Surprisingly, most of the roles he refused were finally done by another Mollywood star Mohanlal. Later, Mohanlal turned out to a superstar after this movie. Mani Ratnam's movie Iruvar was the next film Mammootty rejected, and Prakash Raj did the role. Ekalavyan had done by Suresh Gopi later, Run Baby Run did by Mohanlal and Memories was done by Prithviraj. The blockbuster film Drishyam by Jeethu Joseph which turned out to be one of the biggest hits of Mohanlal’s career was also offered to Mammootty earlier. According to reports, Mammootty refused films due to date issues but fully supported the film and urged fans to watch it.
Fahadh Faasil: Very talented and new-age superstar of Mollywood, Fahadh Faasil has always been choosy about the movies he does. Therefore, he rejected many films like Sapthamashree Thaskaraha, Double Barrel and Ivide, which was later done by Prithviraj.
Mohanlal: The CID series of Sethurama Iyer from the film Oru CBI Diary Kurippu which became a breakthrough of megastar Mammootty's career was initially offered to Mohanlal. The superstar reportedly refused the role because he felt that Sethuramaiyar's character is not suitable for him. Mohanlal was also offered the role of the villain Adiseshan in Rajinikanth’s Sivaji The Boss but he refused it and the part went to Suman.
Prithviraj: According to rumours, after Prithviraj's Bollywood debut film Aiyyaa, he was all set to be part of Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year, but he couldn’t do it due to an offer of a negative role for the Tamil film Kaaviya Thalaivan. He reportedly even rejected Lal Jose directed Diamond Necklace, which was later done by Fahadh Faasil. Prithviraj was also offered Vyshakh's Mallu Singh, for which he even did some photo shoots, but then it didn't work out, and Unni Mukundan did the role.
