They never came out in public about their relationship and whenever the media asked them about it, they avoided it or replied diplomatically.
But in an old interview with Filmfare, without taking names, Deepika had talked about her breakup with Ranbir Kapoor and how her relationship with Ranveer Singh began.
In the interview, she recalled her past relationships and said that she had been in relationships ever since she was 13. Even though she was hurt in love and her trust was broken many times, she didn't give up on the idea of love.
And by the time she met Ranveer, she was exhausted, and wanted to try out the concept of casual dating with the actor.
Deepika further said that she didn't wish to be accountable to anyone and thus advised Ranveer to keep their relationship open without any commitment.
She also told Ranveer that she could explore the possibility of a relationship with that person if she is attracted to anyone.
However, fate is such that Ranveer and Deepika are now husband and wife from a causal relationship.
