A woman's bra is not a danger to society: Kangana

'Woman's bra is not a danger to society'

Kangana Ranaut recently bagged a Special Achievement award at the Indian Of The Year 2015 event hosted by CNN.

After she had accepted the award, media asked about her views on censorship in Bollywood - a hot topic ever since the censor board demanded 84 cuts in Udta Punjab and removal of all references to Punjab.

In reply to the question the Queen actress said “ I am not a director and have never been through that process. But my friends seem extremely disturbed with the way things are going. In fact, they feel bullied. They know there is a process of certification. But the thing is, we don’t need to have a parental attitude towards audiences that we have to protect them.”

Kangana recalled how Queen had run into trouble with the Censor Board over a shot of a bra, which the CBFC demanded to be blurred because they found it vulgar.

"There is a scene in Queen where my bra is on the bed… One day my director called me and said that CBFC asked to blur it. Why do we see it as a danger to society? A woman’s bra is not a danger to society!" she said.

“We need our creative freedom, and we are pressed against the wall. There is so much outrage… I hope that it will be addressed, and I hope that there won’t be such incidences in the future.” Kangana added.

The Indian Of The Year 2015 ceremony took place at Hotel Taj Palace, Delhi. Kangana Ranaut will next be seen in Rangoon opposite Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan.
