She was recently holidaying in Goa, where she was sexually harassed by a group of hooligans, while she was taking a beachside stroll.

"On the night that I reached Goa, I went for a walk on the beach around 9 pm, many men passed lewd comments, followed me and came a little too close to comfort," the actress was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

"To avoid them, I walked inside a beach shack. But there too, were a group of men at the next table, who were asking me to join them. It disgusted me, and I went back to the hotel alone with a server from the shack to accompany me."

The actress was too upset, she continued, "On the way back, no one disturbed me, just because there was a man to guard me."

"I called up my boyfriend after I went back to my room and asked him to come to Goa right away," says Niveditha.

After the incident had happened, I was thinking about the whole event, and I felt very cheap.

Niveditha expressed in the interview, "The common understanding is that if a woman is with a man, she automatically belongs to him; if a woman is by herself, then anyone can have a go at her. That struck me hard."

Anyhow, she doesn't want to blame the men for what happened to her on that night, the actress says, is an outcome of something being fundamentally wrong with our society.

Niveditha has been in many hit movies like Avva, Kiladi Kitty, Porkkalam, Sixer, etc. Her performance in Avva earned Niveditha the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.
