Yes, he’s back again. Censor Board Chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani and his team have brought out their scissors and they’ve asked the makers of Jab Harry met Sejal to remove one word from the promos.

Nihalani has asked Imtiaz Ali to erase the word intercourse from the teasers of the Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer. It doesn’t matter that the Merriem Webster dictionary defines intercourse as connections or dealings between two people. Nihalani doesn’t want the Indian public to hear a word that has a sexual connotation.

In the recently released promo, Sejal hands over an indemnity bond to Harry, saying that he isn’t liable if they have intercourse. And that’s where the problem arises.

Nihalani told The Quint that the Censor Board has agreed to grant a U/A certificate for the film on the condition that the word intercourse is deleted from the promos. “But they’ve not come back to us with the deletion. So in principle, the trailer has not been passed yet,” he added.

He said the Censor Board doesn’t have control on the content passed around the internet. However, the Board will take steps to prevent this uncensored trailer from being aired on television. Perhaps Ali, like Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory, could use the word coitus, a word which was once popular in the 1800s.
