Tensions rise at TN-Kerala border after assailants shoot dead Tamil Nadu cop in Thiruvananthapuram

Tension intensified at the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border at Kaliyakkavilai in Kanyakumari district after unknown assailants in a SUV (Mahindra Scorpio TN-57-AW-1559) shot dead a special sub-inspector of police at the Padanthalumoodu check post.

Thiruvananthapuram: A Tamil Nadu policeman was shot dead in Thiruvananthapuram on January 8. According to sources, a man in SUV (Mahindra Scorpio TN-57-AW-1559)  fired at the policeman. The deceased is identified as Wilson, sub-inspector of Marthandam, Tamil Nadu.

Reportedly, Wilson was checking vehicles along with other officers when a man alighted a vehicle and opened fire at him.

The policeman suffered three bullet injuries. Other police officers rushed the injured cop to a private hospital, but he was declared dead. The motive of the murder is not known yet.

Tamil Nadu and Kerala Police have begun the investigation, and have also received CCTV visuals of perpetrators escaping after the attack.

Wilson was just five months away from retirement.
