Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) selectors have unveiled the India ODI squad for the tour of New Zealand. The Virat Kohli-led side will play three ODIs.

Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of both T20I and ODI series. Sanju Samson has replaced Dhawan for T20Is and Prithvi Shaw will take his spot in the ODI line-up. Recently, Shaw hit a 100-ball 150 in New Zealand.

Dhawan hurt his left shoulder during the third ODI against Australia at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday (January 19). India won the match by seven wickets and claimed the three-match series 2-1.

“An MRI of his shoulder was conducted, and the results have confirmed a grade II injury of his acromio-clavicular joint. His hand will be in a sling and he has been advised rest for some time. He will start his active rehab management in the first week of February at the National Cricket Academy (NCA),” the Board of Control for Cricket in India said in a media advisory on Tuesday night (January 21).

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Sanju Samson as Dhawan’s replacement in the T20I series and Prithvi Shaw for the ODI series,” it added.

During their tour of New Zealand, India will play five T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests. The first T20I is in Auckland on January 24. The Indian team has already landed in Auckland.
