Non-coronavirus medical requirements during lockdown? Ola helpline in Bengaluru South could be your answer

To tackle the inconvenience emerging out of lockdown due to COVID-19, Bengaluru South will witness 25 Ola cabs pressed into service. This is an initiative by public representatives to address travel issues during emergencies that arise other than coronavirus.

While the lockdown has instilled a sense of fear among residents who are not able to go out to get basic needs like medicine and visit hospitals, Ola cabs has pressed 25 cabs into service following a request by MP Tejasvi Surya.

People who have to undergo dialysis and treatment for cancer were finding it tough to travel due to lockdown. This step, that realises the need for medical emergencies, sees operations with the aid of a helpline

The receiving end of the helpline number 9946499464 will have a coordinator to ensure callers find solutions to the travel issue during lockdown.

Ola has announced that it will not take any cut from this service and that the customer can pay the amount directly cab drivers. The price per kilometre is fixed at Rs 15.

This apart, two ambulances have also been pressed into service to respond to suspected COVID-19 cases.
