Jharkhand, on March 31, reported its first positive coronavirus case.  The patient who tested positive is a Malaysian woman. She was found hiding along with 17 other foreigners in a mosque in Ranchi.

Principal health secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni said that the woman who has tested positive is one of those persons who were found hiding in a mosque along with 24 others, including 17 foreigners.

The department has set up 557 beds in isolation wards for coronavirus patients, including 96 in medical colleges, 200 in Sadar Hospital and another 261 in private hospitals. The state has also prepared 1,469 beds, set up in quarantine centres.

The number of COVID-19 cases climbed to 1,071 in India on Monday, while the death toll rose to 29, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The number of active COVID-19 cases stood at 942, while 99 people were either cured or discharged and one had migrated, the ministry stated.
