Diya Jalao: Karan Johar to Akshay Kumar - stars join in with lamps to fight COVID-19 darkness

Celebrities shined bright through their homes  with lit lamps on April 5 at 9 pm for 9 minutes. Stars took part in the initiative taken amid the coronavirus lockdown to show unity in the fight against COVID-19.

Bengaluru: In the call for the Diya Jalao campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked people to to light lamps on April 5 at 9pm for 9 minutes. Among the lakhs of people who heeded this call, were celebrities and Bollywood stars who switched off all the lights in their homes, lit lamps and candles and flashed their phone screens. Stars  joined the initiative taken amid the coronavirus lockdown to show togetherness in the fight against COVID-19.

On March 22, While calling for Janatha Curfew, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked people to show solidarity with doctors, nurses, paramedics, municipal staff and airport workers by going out on their balconies or standing at their doors and windows at 5 pm on March 22 to clap, bang on their plates or ring bells.

The air was filled with reverberations of claps, bells and sirens as everyone took time to show their solidarity with the forces fighting coronavirus.

Celebrities too joined hands and showed their gratitude to the forces fighting the war against the deadly virus.
