Union Budget 2021: Nirmala Sitharaman replaces Swadeshi 'bahi khata' with a Tablet

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrived with a tablet covered in a red cover and a golden national emblem embossed on it ahead of the presentation of the Union Budget in the Parliament on February 1.

New Delhi: The Union budget will be presented today in the parliament by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in a paperless format as the budget goes digital. 

The Finance Minister was seen carrying a tablet with a red cover that has a national emblem in gold embossed on it.

She was accompanied by Mos Finance Anurag Thakur along with other officials from her ministry.

Nirmala Sitharaman replaced Swadeshi 'bahi khata' with a Tablet as the budget will read from a soft copy.

In the year 2019, Nirmala ditched the long-time tradition of carrying a leather briefcase and arrived with bahi khata. Now the FM has arrived with a tablet 

This year's budget will be delivered paperless as the budget goes digital.

For the first time in 73 years, no budget papers were published and it will be read from a soft copy. 

This year's budget is said to be significant, and a crucial one after the downfall in the economy, and a fall in GDP rate owing to the Coronavirus pandemic.
