The Donald Trump administration is considering a request to grant Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman legal immunity before Democrat President-elect Joe Biden enters the White House.

The Donald Trump administration is considering a request to grant Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman immunity before Democrat President-elect Joe Biden enters the White House.

According to The Washington Post, Mohammed bin Salman has sought immunity from prosecution in the case pertaining to the plotting the assassination attempt on a former top intelligence officer who could have revealed damaging secrets about the Crown Prince ascent to power.

The former intelligence officer Saad Aljabri is currently living in exile in Canada.

The WaPo also said that a State Department recommendation could see Mohammed bin Salman escaping prosecution in other cases filed in the United States, including that of the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Responding to The Washington Post report, Aljabri's eldest son Khalid said in a statement that American support for the Mohammed bin Salman would greenlight further assassination plots.

“If granted, the US would essentially be granting MBS immunity for conduct that succeeded in killing Jamal Khashoggi and failed to kill my dad. Lack of accountability is one thing, but allowing impunity through immunity is like issuing a license to kill," the statement added.
