Watch: Landslide sweeps away a row of houses in Japan's Atami city; Rescuers search for survivors

Synopsis

A torrent of mud and debris washed away homes in Japan's Atami city after heavy rainfall for 48 hours.

On Saturday, a destructive landslide hit Japan's Atami city and killed three people. 113 are believed to be missing in the town after torrential rains initiated a series of landslides, which sent floods of mud and rock through the city's streets.

The shocking footage shows people moving away in the torrential mud before it crashed into buildings and roads. The local administration has asked for military assistance, and rescue operations are still on.

Two days after landslides, Japanese rescuers searched through crumbled houses and immersed roads. More than a usual worth of rainfall was observed in some parts of Japan
