As the Taliban took over Afghanistan, thousands of Afghans left the country to avoid probable cruelty by the Taliban. However, a group of courageous Afghan women protesting for their rights in the streets of Kabul in front of Taliban militants has emerged on social media. In the video, a group of women in hijabs were seen holding placards encircled by Taliban fighters. The women can be heard asking for their rights, including social security, freedom to work, education and the right to political participation. They believe that the human rights obtained by them over the 20 years could now be reversed.
Prominently, this is the first protest of its kind after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan. Last time, when Taliban's were there in power, women were restricted to their homes, not allowed to study or work, and even travel without being accompanied by a male chaperone.
Many such videos are going viral on social media. Netizens praised the bravery and courage of these women. Several users were also concerned about them, thinking that they're putting their lives in danger. Take a look.
