Coronavirus: Over 100 restaurants shut down in Pakistan for violation of COVID-19 safety norms

Pakistan authorities have closed more than 100 restaurants and six wedding halls amid a sudden increase in COVID-19 deaths.
Karachi: Over 100 restaurants and six wedding halls were shut in Pakistan as they violated COVID-19 safety norms. The government has also imposed a lockdown in some of the city's high-risk areas to contain the spread of the coronavirus, according to reports.
The country has been routinely violating social distancing since last month when wedding halls were allowed to open on the condition they adhere to such rules. Pakistan has reported 313,431 confirmed cases with 6,499 deaths.
Pakistan also opened all the educational institutions which remained shut for nearly six months.

According to reports, high schools, colleges and universities reopened on September 15, classes VI to VIII started on September 23.
Primary school started on September 30, the report added.
As per the health protocols, 20 students or less can be seated in a classroom.
