In the backdrop of the death of four people who were killed after their SUV toppled while they were on their way to Nandi Hills, police in the area have intensified checking. There are a high number of bikers and drivers headed to the hilltop on weekends who break rules. Nandi Hills Police have decided to crack down on two-wheeler users for not wearing helmets and riding over capacity. Similarly, for four-wheelers, drivers without a seat belt will be penalised. In some cases, police say, if the vehicle users are repeat offenders, their vehicles are seized, and they are forced to abandon the trip to hill.
