As Covid victims, ashes are brought to immerse in Cauvery basin, villagers block roads fearing the spread

Bengaluru: As Covid grips Karnataka and Bengaluru in particular, villagers in the temple town of Srirangapattana blocked roads leading to ashes immersion points.

The decision was taken by Ganjam villagers in Mandya District as they fear the families coming to immerse Covid victims’ ashes may end up infecting villagers.

The road leading to Sangam and Gosai Ghat for immersion of body ashes has been blocked using poles, stones and wood and a group of youth from villagers stand guard and prevent any vehicles from entering this route.
