Bengaluru: In a shocking revelation, doctors have published a study which states that 25% of motorists who complained about chest pain or were either rushed to hospital in last two years suffered from heart ailments due to air pollution.

Dr CN Manjunath from Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Science and Research has said that air pollution is the new tobacco smoke and more heart related deaths have been reported due to air pollution than tobacco smoke.

Doctors have appealed that more trees be planted in the city, polluting vehicles be taken off the roads, and illegal constructions be checked.
