Madras Regiment, which is one of the oldest regiments of the Indian Army, conducted pre-induction training before leaving for the joint annual military exercise 'Yudh Abhyas' with the US Army, which is scheduled to take place in Alaska from October 15.
During its pre-induction training, the troops of Madras Regiment carried out drills including a cordon and search operation, weapon firing and jumping off a Chinook helicopter and the Advanced Light Helicopter.
Last time, the India-US 'Yudh Abhas' exercise was held in Rajasthan.
The bilateral wargaming is aimed at enhancing combined interoperability capabilities through training and cultural exchange, which will foster enduring partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region through common defence objectives.
'Yudh Abhyas; 2021 will also provide excellent opportunities for professional and cultural exchanges that strengthen the partnership through shared learning and training.
