As far as minority institutions are concerned, they say, the community demands funds for not building mosques but for education.
Abdul Subhan, member of Prime Minister's 15-point Programme for Welfare of Minorities, Karnataka, has pitched for the overall development of the community and special focus on education of minorities.
Subhan has sought more funds for girlchild under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, building of more post-matriculation hostels and hostels for working women from the community.
As more meritorious students are unable to afford foreign education, the minority institutions want the government to fund such students to pursue their dreams.
Since many students in schools and colleges are unable to reap the benefits of scholarship schemes due to the shortage of funds, Subhan expects the government to infuse more cash into the existing scheme.
