India's daily Covid-19 case tally has risen to a record 401,993 while the number of fatalities increased by 3,523, the Union Health Ministry announced on Saturday.
At the same time, data revealed that nearly three lakh (2,99,988) people were cured and discharged in the last 24 hours.
The country’s new infections recorded during April were equivalent to the number of infections reported from March 2021 to October 2020.
The country’s active cases crossed the 32-lakh mark during the last 24 hours.
The infection tally rose to 1,91,64,969 while the death toll increased to 2,11,853.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,56,84,406, while the case fatality rate stands 1.11 per cent.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 28,83,37,385 samples were tested up to April 30, of which 19,45,299 were done on Friday.
