Kerala government has informed the High Court that Muhammed Nisham, who is serving a life term in the infamous Chandrabose murder case, is normal and did not suffer from any mental ailments.

The court had asked the government to submit a report on the mental condition of the convict who is lodged in Kannur Central Prison. 

The government filed the report after a medical board examined Nisham.

Abdul Khader, a relative of Nisham, had recently submitted a petition with the High Court requesting to withhold his sentence as he was mentally ill. The petitioner also asked the court to provide treatment to the convict. 

Nisham, who is commonly known as the beedi tycoon, was awarded jail term for brutally killing Chandrabose, the security guard of a luxury apartment in Thrissur. He was outraged over the delay in opening the gates of the apartment. 

He was awarded 24 years jail term and was slapped ₹80.30 lakh fine for the cold blooded murder. 

Recently, he was in the news after government included him in the list of convicts they were planning to release early.
