Kerala ranks as the top states in the country that possesses high literacy rates. On World Literacy Day, Kerala Tourism shared a video of a unique book village in the state, which grabbed the attention of the internet.
The video shows a village in Kerala named Perumkulam, also known as book village or Pusthaka Gramam, which has several book nests on the roadsides.
Perumkulam is known to be the first book village in the state. In the video, a man walks towards a book rack on the roadside and opens up the rack where several books are stacked.
After picking up a book by his choice, he sits on a nearby bench and enjoys reading the book. Take a look.
The video was shared in Kerala Tourism's official Twitter handle and has garnered thousands of views.
Netizens were quite impressed with the initiative and started pouring praises in the comment section.
Many even recommended making such small ‘book nests’ all over the cities, while others claimed that such initiatives are the reason why Kerala always tops at the literacy rates.
