India has tested a new cruise missile successfully

"The new cruise missile will supplement the Indo-Russian joint venture supersonic cruise missile BrahMos," sources said.


India has successfully tested the Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation off the coast of Odisha. 

As per the sources, the missile flew for around 150 km with an indigenous cruise engine.

The missile is equipped with the 'Made-in-India' Manik turbofan engine. 

"The engine performed as expected. More tests will be conducted to master the new tech," sources said.

The missile has a length of six meters, a wingspan of 2.7 m, a diameter of 0.52 m and a launch weight of about 1.5 tonnes.

"The new cruise missile will supplement the Indo-Russian joint venture supersonic cruise missile BrahMos," sources added.
