Survey: 75% Delhi residents want lockdown extended

A LocalCircles survey, which collected over 32000 responses from residents in 11 districts of Delhi, found that 75% of the people are in favour of extending the lockdown.

With the medical infrastructure in Delhi struggling to cope with the barrage of Covid-19 patients arriving for treatment, a new survey has revealed that many in the national capital believe that an extended period of lockdown is the best way forward.A LocalCircles survey, which collected over 32000 responses from residents in 11 districts of Delhi, found that 75% of the people are in favour of extending the lockdown.

Of these, 31% of respondents wanted the lockdown to be extended for three weeks while 29% sought a two-week lockdown and the remaining 15% were okay with extending the strict restrictions by a week.Interestingly, the number of people seeking extended lockdown in the city has increased by almost 5 times in the last month.The survey comes at a time when the Covid positivity rate in the national capital has reached 32.69%. In the last 24 hours alone, Delhi reported 27,047 new Covid cases, 375 deaths and 25,288 recoveries.The number of active cases in the city stands at 99,361.

When asked about the kind of services they think that should be permitted during lockdown or curfew, 84% of Delhi residents wanted home delivery of goods.
