'Ahimsa - Gandhi: The Power of the Powerless' wins Best Documentary Award at New York Indian Film Festival

Ramesh Sharma said, "The film speaks to the conscience of humanity as people globally grapple with intractable problems surrounding race, and as societies struggle to give the marginalized and underserved human dignity and restore fundamental human rights." 

The film, produced by Ramesh Sharma, Jean Luc Berlot, Uma Gajapati Raju and Sanchaita Gajapati Raju, brings to the fore the impact of the Gandhian message of non-violence worldwide.

It examines how Gandhi's message resonated with Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, Barack Obama and the civil rights movement in the United States, the solidarity movement in Poland, the velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia as well as Nelson Mandela and his anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa. 

Debojyoti Mishra was the music director of the documentary. The title song of the film has been sung by AR Rahman and Bono.
