Colorado woman walked into New Orleans airport fully nude, arrested after refusal to leave, said Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office
New Orleans: A woman, who arrived at Louis Armstrong International Airport while wearing not a stitch of clothing, was later arrested when she refused to leave the facility, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
Mariel Vergara, 27, of Pueblo, Colorado, was completely nude when she walked into the airport and made her way to the Spirit Airlines ticket counter on Friday night, April 3, authorities said.
A deputy dispatched to the scene noted that Vergara had already put on a dress by the time he arrived.
But she was still violating public decency laws because she had no underwear on, and the dress was too short to cover her genitals, the Sheriff's Office said.
Airline officials told Vergara she wouldn't be able to travel due to her attire -- or lack of it thereof. She was asked to leave the airport, but Vergara refused, the Sheriff's Office said.
Vergara refused deputies’ commands to leave the airport, authorities said. She fought with them as she was taken into custody, NOLA.com reported.
Jefferson Parish jail records show Vergara was booked early on Saturday on charges of obscenity, entering or remaining after being forbidden, resisting an officer, battery of a police officer and simple battery.
While jailed, she was charged on Thursday with two additional crimes: resisting an officer by violence and battery of a corrections officer.
Details of those charges were not immediately available, NOLA.com said.
