With no fingers and iris for Aadhaar, Bengaluru woman denied monthly pension

Leprosy, or Hansen's disease, is caused by a bacteria. India has the highest number of infections, followed by Brazil. A leprosy patient in the south Indian city of Bengaluru lost her pension as she was unable to provide biometric data, but has now been given a new identity card to restore her welfare payment.
