Woman receives official letter informing her that she is dead

85-year-old Saraswathy Amma of Kinathukadavu of Coimbatore district recently received a letter telling her that she is dead. Funny, because she was the one reading about her death. The letter addressed to her was sent by the revenue officials, according to a leading daily report.

The letter mentions that Saraswathy’s name has been removed from the voter's list because of her demise. This got her worried since it would mean that her pension might end up being terminated. The pensioner recently submitted her life certificate and yet she got this official letter confirming her death, she was quoted by The New Indian Express as saying.

Her son-in-law, S Prabhakaran, contacted the revenue inspector who reportedly said that to rectify the error Saraswathy will have to fill up a form. Meanwhile, the officials have stated that while deleting double entries by using multiple selections they must have marked the 85-year-old as dead. Her name would be put on the Voter's list in the next two days, the daily quoted revenue divisional officer of Coimbatore south, S Madhuranthagi, as saying.
