Tamil Nadu government announces State Film Awards for six years

On July 13, 2017, Tamil Nadu government announced the State Film Awards for six consecutive years from 2009 to 2014. 

Many would have forgotten that this Award ever existed. As the government has suddenly released a lengthy list, it will take a lot of time to understand who has got what award in which year. 

Usually, these awards are meant for the actors and actress who have political associations.

After the announcement had been made, several film personalities appreciated the list for including fresh talent.   

Especially the exclusion of lead actors such as Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Karthi, Vishal and Dhanush in the list, has surprised everyone. 

Some opined that the government could have announced the awards for the year 2015 and 2016 as well.
