BJP worker arrested for staging bomb attack at home

In a bid to get the sympathy of his neighbours, a BJP worker staged a bomb attack at his home and was arrested by the police.

C Paramanantham, 49, had claimed that a bomb was hurled at his house in Thiruverkadu early on Thursday.

But forensic evidence collected from his residence showed that the incident was staged, reports the Times of India.

On Thursday, Paramanantham had told police that petrol bombs were hurled into his house. He immediately woke his family and shifted them to safety. The raging fire had engulfed the furniture.

He told the police that the accused had even burnt a BJP flag installed next to his house. After the incident, the police swung into action. Paramanantham told the police that the attack was due to political difference.

However, it was found that the fire originated from inside the house. The police who grew suspicious questioned Paramanantham. He later confessed that he had done it as he was involved in a temple land dispute.

He confessed to having the staged the drama to get the sympathy of the villagers, with whom he was at loggerheards due to the court dispute. He also wanted to avail police protection under the pretext and in turn show his power and importance in the locality.

This has become a major embarrassment to the state’s BJP unit.
