Ajinkya Rahane proved we do not always need a Kohli to tame opponents

India just clinched yet another Test series and that too against Australia. This was their fourth consecutive Test series win against Australia since 2004-2005. This only became a reality after the Indian Cricket Team put up a comprehensive performance against an upbeat Australian side. But one man stood tall and held the team together right from the start of the 4th Test match in Dharamsala – Ajinkya Rahane.

Many must have thought that Rahane probably was not the right man to lead these Indian blokes. We need Virat Kohli at the helm of the affairs. But Rahane just proved that we do not need a Kohli always to tame the opponents.

The way Rahane led India in the fourth Test match was indeed incredible. The calmness and the right amount of aggression were just what the doctor had ordered for India to clinch this series. Even Kohli could not stop himself from putting heaps of praises on ‘Jinks,’ as Rahane is popularly known as in the team.

Rahane played with an attacking intent in the second innings after Cheteshwar Pujara got out. This also showed his character as a captain. He did not want the Australian bowlers to take control of the situation and thus came out all guns against them. His innings of 38* from 27 balls included four fours and two sixes.

The world needs to know that India are not easy to be tamed even when Kohli is not guarding the side with his shield, as we also have a Rahane to step up for the game!
