For Nishit Jois and his wife, Priyanka, a road trip would change their life. This Bengaluru couple made a travel plan to drive through 18 countries and reach their destination: London. In their words, this trip changed their life.
Nishit and Priyanka came up with a plan to take their car and drive until they reached their destination. They embarked on their journey on April 9 and passed through South East Asia, Central and Western Europe and finally ferried their vehicle across the English Channel and reached Buckingham Palace after a 55 day journey.
“We're almost teary-eyed when we reached Central London and caught a glance of the Big Ben for the first time in our life through the windscreen of our car,” Times of India quoted him as saying.
Their travel plan was elaborate. They passed through Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and finally the UK.
The best part about their travel is the sense of adventure their received from it. Nishit said that one day they had breakfast in Czech Republic, lunch at Germany, tea in Netherlands and dinner in Belgium.
“We drove through the Autobahn freeway, where there is no speed limit; negotiated our way through tricky terrains, went off-roading; and enjoyed rain showers in almost every country,” he added.
The most life-altering experience was the friends they made. According to Nishit, they bonded well with people even though they didn’t know the language. In order to get a local experience, they ate at roadside tea stalls and spoke to passersby.
The two stopped at 40 fuel stations and prepared their road trip for three months before hitting the road. However, nothing prepared them for the experience that results from driving through a chunk of the world.
