FollowThe police have registered a case against a doctor from Malappuram after he allegedly took a woman's nude photos and videos in the labour room.
The accused has been identified as Dr MC Joy, managing director of Prasanthi Hospital in Manjeri. A case has also been filed against his wife, who is also a doctor, and two nurses who work at the hospital. The incident happened in November.
The woman, 25, alleged that the doctor, who is the husband of the gynaecologist she was consulting, walked into the labour room after her delivery and examined her by removing her clothes. He also captured her photos and videos, despite her objection.
The police have come under fire for not registering the case earlier, despite the victim lodging complaints with the collector and the district police chief. The collector had even recommended a cyber cell inquiry into the incident but the police did not register a case.
Feeling that the police were trying to protect the accused and hush up the case, the woman eventually approached a court in Manjeri demanding justice. The court on Monday ordered the police to register a case.
