The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah pleaded with Modi with folded hands to please intervene and solve the Mahadayi and clear the stumbling block for providing drinking water to the people of north Karnataka, reported Kannada Prabha.

Responding to issues related to north Karnataka at a special debate Siddaramaiah said despite several attempts by the State the Goa government is not coming forward for discussions. BJP State President Yeddyurappa has assured that he would solve the issue within one month. It would very good if he can solve or else PM Modi has to intervene, otherwise it will not be solved.

Daily issues relating to north Karnataka were being discussed. Members had debated for 5 and half hours. In Assembly only 4 MLAs spoke about it and in council 25 members spoke about it. Siddaramaiah expressed his displeasure that only 4 spoke about it in assembly. When Siddaramaiah was responding Opposition leader Jagadish Shettar was absent.

When Siddaramaiah blamed Prime Minister Modi regarding resolving Mahadayi, the BJP members staged a walk out. Answering several of the questions Siddaramaiah said only Modi can solve this problem.  When an all Party delegation had met the PM in this regard he had suggested to convince Congress members of both the states. No Prime Minister would make such a   suggestion in a Federal System of government, he complained.

Protesting against this BJP members said it was AICC President Sonia Gandhi who had opposed Mahadayi when Congress was ruling in Goa. They alleged that instead of giving proper answer about north Karnataka the Chief Minister is blaming the Prime Minister and staged a walk out.

The Chief Minister stated that Belagavi will definitely be divided.  Only aspect to be considered is to decide whether it should be 2 or 3, he said. BJP MLA Umesh Katti demanded a medical college to Chikkodi. Responding to him CM said “when J H Patel was ready to divide Belagavi it was you who stopped it.”

Siddaramaiah also defended that there is a pro-Congress wave in the State as in the past 4 and half years Congress has implemented people friendly several projects.  Taunting about the drop in BJP’s spirit he said Mission 150 has dropped to Mission 50.
