After the recent revelation of preferential treatment accorded to jailed AIADMK leader V Sasikala and stamp paper scam accused Abdul Karim Telgi, another irregularity has come to light about Parappana Agrahara prison norms.

A group of 20 prisoners who are serving life sentences for crimes like rape and murder allegedly manage all the activities inside the prison.

Like a story straight out of a Hollywood movie, this gang operates everything from allocating cells to new inmates to the allocation of duties to them.

According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, these convicts are kept in a separate barrack equipped with all facilities. Every new inmate to the jail has to see them first. These convicts then allocate a cell to the inmate for a price.

An inmate is provided with a good cell with all the luxuries if he pays more. Paying less or nothing means a normal cell and unfavourable treatment throughout his stay.

If anyone wants to see a relative or wants something from the outside, he needs first to hand over money to the gang.

It is reported that everything happens right before the jail supervisors and they do nothing about it.

Any inmate behaving rudely with any of them will lose all the luxury in prison and is also prone to be beaten up by them. Nobody questions them.

The group manages all the illegal activities inside the prison and gathers money by roll call.

This comes in the wake of accusation of irregularities and preferential treatment to jailed AIADMK leader V Sasikala and stamp paper scam kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi. A committee headed by retired IAS officer will investigate the matter and submit a report to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
