FollowA man apparently looking to exploit the ongoing atmosphere of communal tension in the coastal region of Manngaluru, seems to have cut himself with blade and falsely claimed to be a victim of a stabbing.
A resident of Kuppe Padavu, Surathkal, lodged a complaint with the Bajpe Police station on July 10 that a group belonging to a different community attacked him at Yedapadavu. The current situation in the area is extremely tense, due to the nearly month-long communal clashes in the region.
Taking his case extremely seriously, police conducted a through investigation. The cops quickly discovered that he had cut himself with a blade on his face and hands and created a high drama, simply to claim he was a victim of a communal riot, reports Kannada Prabha.
The Bajpe inspector also uncovered that the man was giving several different statements, sometimes contradicting himself. Initially he said two persons came on a bike, attacked him and escaped. Later he changed his statement, saying a group had attacked him. With regard to the attack spot also he seemed unsure, giving multiple locations.
DG and IG RK Dutta announced cash award to Bajpe inspector TD Nagaraj and his team for busting the case.
