Love has no boundary Udupi man ties the knot with German girl according to Indian tradition

Marriages are made in heaven they say. Sometimes marriages are made on cruise ships also.

That is what happened to Bharath Kumar, son of Karunakara Karkera and Sharada of Hejamadi, Udupi and Rebecca of Frankfurt, Germany. They met on board a luxury cruise ship Bella, where both are working. Bharath works in the food and beverages department and Rebecca is the Art Gallerist. It was love at first sight three years ago.

Both consulted the respective families and both gave consent happily.  Last year Bharath had brought Rebecca home for holidays to Udupi. Rebecca made it very clear that she loves Indian traditions and is keen to adapt to Indian way of life.

On Sunday the couple entered wedlock according to Hindu customs. Haridas Bhat, the purohit from Hejamadi conducted the rituals.

Rebecca’s elder sister and her husband, their aunt and 11 other guests had arrived from Germany. The German women in sarees and traditional Indian dresses added color to the occasion. Another party is being planned according to German rituals in which Bharat and Rebecca will dress up in German attires.

Rebecca is learning Tulu and is getting used to Tulu cuisine. She loves Masala Dose, chicken rotti and sea fish prepared in Tulu style.

Even aboard the ship Bharath was teaching her to speak Tulu and in one video Rebecca has said a dialogue from a Tulu film and it went viral.
