JD(S) rebel Zameer Ahmed Khan the next Congress strongman?
- Zameer Ahmed Khan invited CM Siddaramaiah for the Haj programme he conducted as a chief guest
- He had invited the Moulana as his words matter a lot for Muslims across Karnataka
- This is also an indication to the fact that Zameer is ensuring Muslim support to Congress party
FollowTerming Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as the true symbol of secularism, JDS rebel MLA BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan on Friday held a convention to honour Haj pilgrims and gave away autos rickshaws and tri-cycles to beneficiaries.
CM Siddaramaiah was invited to the programme as the chief guest. Giving a hint that getting Zameer into Congress was also getting the support of Muslim leaders, Zameer also got Moulana Shamshul Haq, President Karnataka Sunni Sect to the function.
The maulanas words matter a lot for Muslims across Karnataka and votes could swing into Congress kitty if Zameer wishes to help the party.
Zameer is likely to contest from an important place in the State's Constituency. The idea behind bringing Moulana to function is also to send a strong message to all the minority leaders that Zameer Ahmed Khan should not be taken lightly and the party must not brush him aside.
Speaking exclusively to Newsable Khan said, "CM had once told me that steering Congress to victory will also help me get a cabinet rank, but my aim is not just power but help and opportunity to Muslims".
Khan further said he is holding the Haj convention from over a decade as he feels doing good work matters than publicity.
"My friends and well-wishers wanted to hold a massive convention at Palace Grounds for the Haj event, but I close to make it a low key affair. The only difference is CM and Moulana had attended the function this time, and I am thankful to them, "
It can be remembered that Chief Minister was also a member of JD(S) before he joined the Congress.
