Sandalwood's 'Golden Star' Ganesh and his producer wife Shilpa Ganesh have joined hands with MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar in saving the waterbodies in the City. Calling Rajeev Chandrasekhar a “Lake Man”, Ganesh said he was inspired by his wife Shilpa and Parliamentarian Rajeev Chandrashekhar's efforts in saving the dying lakes in Bengaluru. He said he will support Rajeev Chandrashekhar’s initiatives in this regard.

Talking to newspersons after the inauguration of Kere Habba at Halage Vaderahalli on Sunday organised by RR Nagar I Care, United Bengaluru and The Forward Foundation, Ganesh said he had already held talks with Rajeev Chandrasekhar about his participation in the initiative. The initiative was launched at Puttenahalli lake in JP Nagar and reached Halage Vaderahalli. He appealed to the public to support the initiative.

The Halagevaderahalli tank has been encroached by 6.11 acres and the BBMP and district administration should take action to clear it urged Sridhar Pabbisetty, CEO, Namma Bengaluru Foundation. The untreated effluent is allowed to flow into the tank and this needs to be checked. A water treatment plant has to be set up at the tank, he said. Lakes are not merely for jogging and walking, but to retain the ecological balance, said Pabbisetty. Our forefathers had constructed thousands of lakes in the City and we have destroyed most of them in the past 30 years. It is time now to conserve and save them, he said.
