Bengalureans get ready for yet another 40 degree summer

Get ready to keep your sunscreen lotions, caps and scarfs close to your hands as the city of Bengaluru is all set to experience yet another ruthlessly scorching summer this year. A report from the Meteorological Department is suggestive of the fact that the temperature is going to soar. The maximum temperature on Sunday was 35 degrees.

Bengaluru was known for its pleasant weather and therefore people from different parts of the country would come down and settle here. But last year Bengaluru experienced one of the hottest summers.

"Over the next 2-4 days, the temperature will rise to a maximum of 36-37 degrees Celsius. When this happens, it will rain again. And this cycle will continue till the end of May," MB Raje Gowda, a professor of Agro-Meteorology at the University of Agricultural Sciences, was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

Bengaluru recorded its highest temperature ever in April 2016 when the mercury touched 39.2 degrees. It almost became unbearable for the dwellers in the city as they had never experienced something of that sort in recent times. The last time the mercury touched 38 degrees was back in May 1931.

"The impact of the heat might be felt more due to the largely clear skies during the day, with the temperature reaching its maximum between 2pm and 3pm, and cloud formation taking place after 3pm," Raje Gowda added.
