This was an outrageously incredible performance from the two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders.
How many times have we witnessed a 150-run opening partnership stand in T20 cricket? Not many for sure - but we did experience an incredible one tonight itself as Gautam Gambhir and Chris Lynn propelled Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to their first victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 against Gujarat Lions. KKR thumped the Lions by 10 wickets in Match no. 3 of the IPL 2017 and it was indeed a treat to watch.
Gujarat Lions had posted 183 runs in their allotted 20 overs and for a moment it looked like it would be a decent target. But the wicket had too much to offer to the batsmen and Gambhir and Lynn capitalised on it and took their side over the line without losing a single wicket. This was indeed a commanding performance from this KKR side, which is definitely looking threatening at the moment in IPL 2017.
KKR strolled home in no time as they achieved the target with 31 balls to spare. Lynn and Gambhir went berserk right from the start of the run chase, especially the Australian. Lynn finished with 93* from just 41 balls and Gambhir finished on 76* from 48 balls. This was the highest total chased down with all the wickets in tact in all T20 cricket. Gambhir also became the second captain after MS Dhoni to have scored more than 3000 runs in the IPL.
What an astounding performance this was from KKR! Gambhir and co. would be mightily proud of their performance.
Gujarat Lions 183/4 in 20 overs - Suresh Raina 68*, Dinesh Karthik 47 | Kuldeep Yadav -- 4-0-25-2.
