Aamir Khan shows us 'the truth that matters' in new ad on women empowerment

  • Daughters are also capable of taking your legacy forward, you always don't need a boy to do it.
  • "The film is a tribute to all the proud dads and their daughters who became the beacons of change."
Success doesnt come to a boy or girl says Aamir Khan in new ad on women empowerment

After an uber successful movie like Dangal, where actor Aamir Khan brought up the issue of giving importance to the dreams of women/girls, he has now collaborated with a channel under their Nayi Soch (new thought) campaign.

Hidden in this advertisement for the same is the message 'Daughters are also capable of taking your legacy forward, you always don't need a boy to do it.' A sentiment which echoes the star's character in the Dangal.

In the movie on wrestling, Aamir played Mahavir Singhji Phogat who trained his two daughters - Geeta and Babita Singh to become champion wrestlers, going against societal norms. He had mouthed a very pertinent dialogue in the film, " All this while I was thinking only a son could bring me honour, only my son could take my legacy forward. I forgot that gold, is gold, whether it be brought by a girl or a boy." That was a crucial turning point in the film where Mahavir Phogat decides that he had been wrong in discriminating against his daughters and that they were no less capable than boys.

In this new ad, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, director of Dangal, Aamir again pursues the issue of women empowerment. The 50-second short, created by Ogilvy, showcases Aamir as a small-town, middle-class new-age father who is progressive and confident that his daughters will take ahead the legacy of his business.  Lauding the initiative, Aamir said in a statement, "The film is a tribute to all the proud dads and their daughters who became the beacons of change."
